CHARLOTTE, N.C., March 4, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- EDENS, a leading retail real estate developer, announces that Free People, a contemporary clothing shop under the Urban Outfitters parent brand, will open at Atherton Mill later this year.

The shop, whose first location opened in the 1970s, has evolved over the years, and currently has 75 stores across the U.S. This location will be the first in the Charlotte market, and will be located near Anthropologie in the historic mill building.

The Free People brand is aimed at women who are creative, individualistic and intelligent. It's a shop that reflects much of the population of South End, and Charlotte as a whole.

"We have big plans for Atherton Mill and are focused on making sure that Atherton becomes the retail and community gathering place for the South End," says Lyle Darnall, Managing Director for EDENS. "Free People's commitment is a clear step to achieving that and a big win for the South End of Charlotte."
