CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va., Aug. 28, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Celebrated chef, Jason Alley, will open his new restaurant, Pasture, at The Shops at Stonefield on December 15, 2012.  The Shops at Stonefield will open its doors to the public in November 2012.

The Shops at Stonefield is committed to creating a sophisticated culinary environment while providing an intimate gathering place for members of the community to reconnect.

"We are so excited to bring our second location of Pasture to the Charlottesville area. Charlottesville's appreciation of local food and beverages, combined with the abundant producers and farmers in the area, provide an ideal setting for us," said Jason Alley, chef and owner.  "We are looking forward to continuing to work with our ever expanding family of growers, as well as developing new relationships in the area.  We feel honored to be a part of such a vital community, and hope to serve Central Virginia, and Charlottesville, for many years to come."

Pasture chef Jason Alley first received critical acclaim with his restaurant Comfort, which opened in Virginia in 2002. Serving locally sourced food in a simple and deliciously cooked way that people can relate to, Comfort has been recognized as one of Richmond's most popular eating venues.  Pasture, Alley's second venture, a tapas-style restaurant that opened in Richmond in 2011, will join the well-selected mix of restaurants at The Shops at Stonefield.

Pasture will feature a menu of small plates of Southern classics to be shared and enjoyed by the whole table, using some of the best, local products from some of Virginia's best farmers and producers including local ham, Virginia cheeses, fresh fish and shell fish, meat and vegetables.  All beer will be on tap to reduce landfill waste and soft drinks are Maine Root, a fair trade certified soda made with cane sugar.  Wines will be high quality, local, organic and biodynamic with low impact packaging, resulting in fewer bottles to recycle.

Pasture is a 3,500 square foot restaurant that will feature a modern and inviting open decor, with ample space for outdoor dining.
